Should you invest in RV driving lessons?

If you are new to RV driving and have never driven anything bigger then the family car – then investing in a short 1:1 driving lesson is great idea. After all the purpose of Motorhoming is to relax and enjoy the journey.

Motorhomes are not difficult to drive and are significantly easier then towing a caravan.  However a few hours invested in short 1:1 driving course may assist you in relaxing and enjoying your first weeks on the road and easily reversing into campsites

In most capital cites you will find registered driving schools that offer Motorhome driving lessons.   Most that we spoke to are  happy to provide a special 2-3 hour, 1:1 service for new motorhome owners in their own vehicle.

The courses will vary between providers but in general the emphasis is placed on understanding road positioning and the all important reversing and parking.

The average cost (Mar 2015) range from $250 - $350 for a 2-3 hour program.  This seems like a small investment if it provides new motorhome drivers the confidence and awareness to relax and enjoy their first time out on the road.

When preparing for your new RV lifestyle consider adding a quick Motorhome driving course on to the To Do list.
